Pilgrims complain of poor facilities in train

Passengers who are on tour as part of the Dakshina Bharat Yatra arranged by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) have protested against poor facilities in the train.

The IRCTC is organising the eight-day pilgrimage by a 16-coach train covering Tiruchirapalli, Tanjavur, Rameswaram, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Thiruvananthapuram, Kanchi, and Tirupati.

The tourists began their journey from Secunderabad on Thursday night.

When the special tourist train reached Vijayawada, the passengers of one coach complained that the windows were not closing and the sanitary conditions were pathetic. They stopped the train for four hours and demanded that the officials replace the coach immediately.

The tourists relented after the IRCTC and SCR officials promised to replace the bogie at Renigunta.
