PIL in HC on TTD’s bank deposits

Petitioner alleges violation of rules

The High Court has admitted a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Rayalaseema Porata Samithi Convenor P. Naveen Kumar Reddy against the alleged misappropriation in bank deposits by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Mr. Reddy questioned the TTD’s action in depositing ₹1,000 crore in a private bank which he claimed was a violation of Section 111 (3) of

The Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious and Endowments Act – 1987 and sought a direction to the organisation to deposit the funds in a nationalised bank.

The respondents are the Special Chief Secretary and the Commissioner of Endowments Department, the TTD Executive Officer and the Representative of the Private Bank (IndusInd Bank).

Several allegations

Several allegations were made against the bank deposits for which TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal gave a clarification saying they followed the guidelines of the TTD’s investment advisory committee and the government regulations.
