Picnic with a difference

In sync with the holiday mood, MLA Vaspalli Ganesh Kumar on Sunday organised a picnic for party men. It was not an ordinary affair.

Party workers and his supporters were taken to Tallapalem, about 60 km, for the picnic in 14 buses. Mr. Ganesh Kumar is known for his organisational skills. Earlier, he used to set up Ganesh idols of record height at his Defence academy in 104 Area for Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations. He was all praise for the role of party men in bringing TDP to power. But picnic became a political affair. He was quite confident that TDP would win the Mayor post hands down. The picnic was meant to work strategies for it.

Of politics & ‘old wounds’

The death anniversary of Congress MLA Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga proved to be yet another occasion for his son Vangaveeti Radhakrishna (YSR Congress) and Devineni Rajasekhar (Congress) to indulge in war of words. A statement purportedly made by Mr. Rajasekhar a few days ago on the departed Kapu leader caused the tempers to fray. This is not the first time that the arch rivals attacked each other verbally in such a manner.

Whenever they did, it became a topic of discussion and the police were kept on a high alert. Fortunately the event passed off without any untoward incident, much to the relief of the general public.

Over-enthusiasm

of parents

Cultural programmes presented by students during recently conducted Parents’ Day celebrations in a private school in Patamata were well-received by the audience. However, the parents who tried to videograph or click pictures of their children on stage using smart phones, obstructed the audience who were enjoying the acts. In spite of repeated requests from viewers that parents ignored them and indulge in clicking spree.

Migration time

in Prakasam politics

Speculations are rife that more YSRC leaders are waiting in the wings to join the TDP. YSRC district convenor N. Balaji had joined the TDP bandwagon close on the heels of YSRC official spokesman Jupudi Prabhakara Rao. The grapevine has it that TDP leadership has given his nod for wooing leaders with reputation from other parties to weaken the opposition party, TDP sources said. Those whose names were doing the rounds included three sitting YSRC MLAs in the district who had crossedover from the Congress on the poll eve as also another YSRC MLA who had quit the TDP to join the opposition party.

Exhibition of loyalty in birthday celebrations

Birthdays always provide great opportunity for local leaders to showcase their loyalty to Ministers, MPs and other public representatives. Fanfare will be more if the party leaders are at helm of affairs in the ruling party. Many local TDP leaders have put up huge banners and cut-outs on Srikakulam MP Kinjarapu Rammohan's 28th brith day recently. A local TDP leader is ahead of others in stealing the show by keeping banners in nook and corner of the city. The reason for the exhibition of loyalty is ensuing corporation elections. Interestingly, the leaders who put up huge banners did not show much interest on previous occasion. That is politics.

Kapus’ movement

in East Godavari

Kapus are going to blow conch again to fight for their rights and former Minister and MP Mudragada Padmanabham, who was away from active politics from quite some time, is now going to take lead again. After the Mega Star and former Union Minister Chiranjeevi dashed the hopes of Kapus, who have stronghold in twin Godavari, Krishna, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and other districts, they have voted for the TDP in the last polls and got key positions in the Ministry and also in the party. But, the inclusion of the community into BC became the bone of contention and the downtrodden in this community, particularly youth started hitting back at the government for failing to keep its election promise. Another factor that provoked Kapu Community is that neither Jana Sena of film star Pavan Kalyan nor the YSR Congress has addressed their main demand.
