Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member M. Venkaiah Naidu said the people of the country were fed up with the scam-tainted UPA rule and eagerly looking to teach a lesson to the Congress. .

Addressing a meeting of party workers from Secunderabad Lok Sabha Constituency held as part of ‘Praja Chaitanya Sadassu’ here on Sunday, he said the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre was on “ventilator support” and elections to Lok Sabha could be held as early as October. He said anti-Congress winds were blowing and urged the cadre to play a crucial role in strengthening the party in the State and ensuring that it returned to power at the Centre.

He said the Third Front was a mirage and a failed experiment.

The country needs national and nationalistic party which has unity, clarity, good leadership and could provide stable administration. The rivals of BJP were getting nightmares at the mention of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s name and said the BJP’s election plank would be “development, development and more development”.

State BJP president G. Kishan Reddy said the Congress government in the State had failed on all fronts and the people were making a comparison between Congress and BJP-ruled States. Referring to MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi’s reported comment in the Assembly whether his patriotism was being questioned, he recalled Mr. Owaisi’s hate speech and said the latter had no moral right to talk about patriotism. He wanted the MIM to be defeated in the municipal elections.

Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya, criticised the State government for power shortage and hike in electricity charges. He said the people would deliver a ‘current shock’ to Kiran Kumar Reddy government in the next elections.

National secretary K. Laxman said there was a need to free Hyderabad from the clutches of Majlis and accused Congress and TDP of vying with each other for trying to join hands with MIM.

Similar ‘Praja Chaitanya Sadassus’ would be held in all the 42 Lok Sabha constituencies in the State, he added.
