Peethadhipathi ushers in pushkaram at Srisailam

Krishna pushkaram began at Srisailam on Friday morning, with Srisailam Jagadguru Peethadhipathi Sri Chennarama Panditaradhya Sivaswamy taking the first holy dip.

After the Peethadhipathi, Srisailam Devasthanam’s Executive Officer Narayana Bharath Gupta and his wife had pushkara snanam and presented a sari, vermillion and turmeric to the river. Sr. Sivaswamy poured holy water from his “kamandalam” on Special Officer of Krishna pushkaram G. Anantharamu, District Collector Ch. Vijayamohan, Telugu Desam Party MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy, Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhara Reddy, TDP leader Vishnuvardhan Reddy and their wives, who took the holy dip and presented saris, vermillion and turmeric to Krishna water.

Pooja to gopuram

Chief Priest of Srisailam temple and priests performed pooja to the temple gopuram with Krishna water brought in kalasams. The priests went amid drumbeats from the Srisailam temple gopuram to Pathalaganga and performed abhishekam to Sri Pathaleswara Swamy, followed by abhishekam to Nandeeswara at Nandi mantapam and to Sri Bhramaramba Devi and Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy.

Kurnool Zilla Parishad chairman M. Rajasekhara Goud, Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna and Joint Collector C. Harikiran had pushkar snanam at Sangameswaram. A.P. Legislative Council Deputy Chairman S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy took the holy dip at Lingalagattu in Srisailam. A 13-day-old baby was given a pushkar bath by her parents at Lingalagattu.
