The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) criticised the Telugu Desam government saying it lacked a vision on different issues, including capital construction, land pooling, farm loan waiver, employment and warned the government about forcing farmers to part their lands for capital construction.
Coming down heavily on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, PCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy said that Mr. Naidu was dilly-dallying on finalising the location for capital, adding that the capital would be constructed on the lines of Singapore, Malaysia and finally toured Raipur to study different aspects.
“He comes up with new locations every time he participates in different programmes. Why is a lot of confusion over the issue? ,” questioned Mr. Reddy.
The TDP chief was trying to fuel differences between Krishna and Guntur districts with his announcements over capital. This was basically being done to convince the party leaders, who had purchased huge chunks of lands in the two districts, he alleged, while addressing the media here on Friday.
Lambasting the TDP government over land pooling policy, the PCC Chief said there was no requirement of such policy. Why is there a need for one lakh acres for the State capital?, he questioned.
“There is government land and they should use it for constructing the capital. If the government lands are not sufficient, then the government should think of other options. This would also not require huge expenditure and all the details pertaining to government lands should be made public,” he demanded.
He also sought that the government convene an all-party meeting to discuss issues pertaining to capital.
