Jana Sena Party (JSP) founder and actor Pawan Kalyan will meet the striking employees of the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) on Wednesday, and extend his support to their campaign against privatisation of the profit-making company.
“Mr. Pawan Kalyan, who is scheduled to arrive here at 8.30 a.m., will meet those on relay hunger strike at the Three Horse junction, express sympathy over the suicide of one of the employees, and discuss with the management the Centre’s decision on strategic sale of the company,” Jana Sena Seva Dal coordinator V. Satish Kumar said on Tuesday.
The JPS chief would take up the issue with the State and the Central governments, he added.
To address workers
Mr. Pawan Kalyan was also slated to address party workers at the Port Kalavani Stadium in the afternoon.
“His visit will give a big boost to our struggle to save the company,” a DCI employee said.
