Panther trapped in net near Mahabubnagar

A male panther aged about five years, which was trapped in a net laid for catching wild boars at Chakapalli village, was tranquilised and shifted to District Forest Office in Mahabubnagar headquarters on Wednesday, said DFO S. Narender Reddy.

At around 8.30 a.m., villagers noticed the panther trapped in the net and informed the forest officials. A team led by Forest Range Officer Mahender reached the spot and tried to cage the panther.

When it did not yield any result, they called a rescue team from Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad.

They tranquilised the wild cat which was shifted to the District Forest Office. Later, the panther was shifted to Nehru Zoological Park, Mr. Narender Reddy added.
