District in-charge and I & PR Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy has warned officials of serious action if they violated protocol. He told them to circulate copies of GOs/guidelines on various government programmes among people’s representatives and coordinate with them for execution.

Speaking at the Zilla Parishad general body meeting on Friday, he along with Rural Development Minister K. Mrunalini, told officials that it was their last chance to observe protocol.

The elected members had been complaining of protocol violation by officials at every ZP general body meeting for the past two years. Reminding them that the government had revised their pay scales despite financial crunch, the Minister asked them to work hard and implement government schemes. His reaction was in the wake of a complaint from members that farm officials had not been creating adequate awareness among farmers on government’s subsidies, farm mechanisation, soil testing, etc.

Further, he told them to prepare proposals for linking of Nagavali, Suvarnamukhi, Vegavathi, Champavathi and Gosthani and improve groundwater table by developing all the 9,183 minor irrigation tanks to make the district drought-proof.

He told members to create awareness among farmers to take up horticulture as the revenue from 2.15 lakh hectares of paddy and other crops was Rs. 1,091crore whereas the revenue from 82,000 ha of horticulture crops was Rs. 1,783 crore last year.

ZP Chairperson Sobha Swati Rani was in the chair.
