On the fifth day of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavam, the deity of Sri Kodandarama was taken in a palanquin during ‘Pallaki Utsavam’ performed on Friday.
Thousands of devotees gathered for the ‘Garuda Seva’ conducted in the evening.
The idol of Lord Rama was colourfully decked up with rare jewels in tune with the charm and elegance associated with the flower-bedecked palanquin.
Armed with the traditional bow and arrow, the idol was seated on a golden throne in the palanquin and carried by the palanquin bearers in tune with the rhythmic beats of the percussionists.
Mesmerising dance
The mesmerising dance by the bhajan troupe members added to the visual delight.
In the evening, the deity was carried on the four ‘Mada’ streets around the temple precincts on ‘Garuda Vahanam’. The heavy congregation of devotees waded through the narrow streets of the temple located in the heart of the city to get the Lord’s blessings.
Temple officials and priests took part in large numbers.
