Road shows are planned to showcase ‘Sunrise State’ as the USP of A.P. to woo investors in the United States, Japan, Germany, Korea, Taiwan and China. During the road shows, potential for investments and collaborations will be highlighted apart from slew of incentives and single window clearance introduced by the government.

As part of electronics policy, the government wants to set up 20 Electronic Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) across the State and electronic bazaars at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati. As IT Investment Region is proposed in Visakhapatnam, the State’s largest city will have two EMCs. The policy aims to promote Visakhapatnam as a mega electronic hub.

Apart from an EMC, Kakinada will get an Electronic Hardware Park, which has been cleared by the Central government. An autonomous society with headquarters in Visakhapatnam will oversee promotion of electronics and IT.

An R&D complex of Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER), an autonomous body under Ministry of IT and Communications, is coming up at Gambheeram near Visakhapatnam with an investment of Rs. 80 crore. An aero city is also proposed at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram creating lot of demand for electronic components.

Units coming up at EMC would get a subsidy of 50 per cent. The government will facilitate project proposals for the entrepreneurs and single window clearances. The units will also be eligible for 25 per cent Capex subsidy. APIIC Executive Director V. Raghunath said electronic industry would become an important growth engine.

As per estimates, electronic industry will attract an investment of Rs. 30,000 crore with an employment to 0.4 million in AP by 2020. The potential of the industry is under-explored. All through it has remained a low manufacturing base with woefully inadequate value addition with a huge demand-supply gap.

Indian electronic market is growing at a fast pace. The demand of $70 billion in 2013-14 will go up to $400 billion by 2020.

“Under Make in India Campaign there is bright scope to encourage domestic production of electronic items and components instead of depending on imports mainly from China,” said CEO of Symbiosys Technologies O. Naresh Kumar.
