Outrage over ‘wasted’ budget session

June 22, 2013 01:59 am | Updated June 07, 2016 08:28 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Even while slamming the government for running away from discussing people’s problems in the Assembly, major Opposition parties blamed each other for the tame end to the 11-day remainder of the budget session on Friday.

The Telugu Desam accused the Congress of match fixing with TRS and YSR Congress in not allowing the House to run. TDP deputy leader M. Narasimhulu alleged that the ruling party allowed these two parties to have a free run in order to deny an opportunity to his party MLAs. Another MLA D. Narendra Kumar said it was sad that the House could not discuss the budget demands prepared by the newly introduced standing committees.

On the other hand, Congress blamed the Opposition parties, particularly the TDP and the TRS for stalling the proceedings. “Their irresponsible behaviour has prevented the Assembly from debating important issues,” Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy told reporters on Friday.

Flanked by Whips – Dronamraju Srinivas, Arepalli Mohan and E. Anil Kumar, the Chief Whip flayed the opposition parties for the lack of faith in the democracy.

YSRC MLAs, K. Ramachandra Reddy and B. Karunakar Reddy, accused the Telugu Desam of joining hands with Congress and shielding the latter from Opposition attack. “We express regrets to the people as despite our best efforts their problems could not be discussed in the Assembly,” Mr. Karunakar Reddy said.

Pocharam Srinivas Reddy (TRS) blamed both Congress and TDP for putting spokes in their efforts to press for adoption of resolution on separate Telangana. “Both of them will pay a heavy price in the 2014 elections.”
