Oracle invited to set up development centre in Vizag

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy has invited the Oracle Corporation to set up its development centre at Visakhapatnam.

Dr. Reddy, who interacted with the top management of Oracle led by its group vice-president Mark C Webster, regional leader Joseph Shamsuddin, country director (India) Surya Maya who called on him here on Wednesday explained the IT, Industrial policies and e-Pragathi project of the State.

He said the State government would extend its cooperation to the company wherever it wanted to set up its centre. The Oracle team of officials visited the State following the invitation of Dr. Reddy during his recent visit to Oracle Corporation in the US.

Positively responding to the proposal of the State government, Mr. Mark C Webster said they would consider setting up the development centre at Visakhapatnam and take a decision soon.

Indian Cellular Association national president Pankaj Mohindro, Cellkon MD Y. Guru, Telecom Sector Skill Council Director A. Gururaj also met Dr. Reddy and reviewed the progress on setting up Cellkon, Micromax and other mobile phone companies.

Employment

Mr. Pankaj Mohindra said that once the cell companies were set up, two lakh unemployed youth would be trained and provided employment.

State was expecting a turnover of Rs.50,000 crore in the next two to three years.
