The nondescript Madirallapadu village on the banks of Gundalakamma river came alive on Saturday, with farmers from far and near converging to relish the famous bull race.

Former Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari joined the spectators on the occasion.

The event witnessed farmers from various parts of the State presenting superior breeds of Ongole bulls for the weight-pulling competition.

Progressive farmers vied with one other displaying the draught power of eight pairs of bulls on Friday night.

The specially trained bulls exhibited their strength by dragging 1,600 kg boulder on the flood-lit ground.
