ONGC vows to construct hostel

The Eastern Offshore Asset of ONGC, based in Kakinada, has volunteered to build a new hostel building for girl students of Rangaraya Government Medical College.

This was announced by Eastern Offshore Asset Manager and Executive Director Aravind Morbale at a function organised in connection with handing over of a 60-seater bus to the College Principal R. Mahalakshmi in the presence of MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the company sanctioned Rs.19 lakh for the bus . Students of the college urged the ONGC Executive Director to set up a gymnasium at boys hostel and provision of R.O. drinking water plant in the girls hostel. The authorities agreed to the proposal and asked the college management to send proposals for the same.

Mr. Morbale also expressed readiness to extend SC, ST scholarships to the students and asked the Assistant Director Srinivas Kumar to prepare the list and submit to his office. Construction of the new building would be taken up in phased manner after getting nod from ONGC higher ups, he said.
