One student was debarred from taking the examination for allegedly resorting to copying at an examination centre on the first day of the SSC public examinations in the district on Thursday.

According to official sources, the student was booked by the personnel of a flying squad at Zilla Parishad High School at Allapalli village in Gundala mandal on Thursday.

Meanwhile, around 20 students were allegedly compelled to write the examination by sitting on the ground at a centre in Shanthinagar in Khammam due to the shortage of desks.

In Kusumanchi mandal, a group of SSC students belonging to Eshwaramadharam and a few other adjoining villages, reportedly hired a tractor and reached their examination centre in the mandal headquarters with great difficulty in the absence of proper transportation facilities.

Barring a single instance of examination malpractice in Gundala mandal, the SSC examination went off smoothly in 194 centres all over the district on the inaugural day, official sources said.
