Andhra Pradesh Minister for Infrastructure and Investments, Ganta Srinivasa Rao tendered his resignation from the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet on Thursday, saying that the bifurcation of the State was not at all acceptable to the people whom he represents.
He was elected from Anakapalle Assembly Constituency in Visakhapatnam District.
In his resignation letter addressed to Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said that in view of the developments which were against the wishes, sentiments and aspirations of people who elected him, his conscience was not permitting him to continue as the Chief Minister’s Cabinet colleague.
The following is the text of the letter: “It is widely discussed in various forums and also reported in both print and electronic media that the UPA decided in favour of separating the Andhra Pradesh state into two. As an ardent supporter and as a representative of people wishing and praying for United Andhra Pradesh it is very painful to note the developments on this front. I strongly believe that this development and decision in favour of separation of state is not at all acceptable to the people whom I represent”.
“In view of all these developments, which are against the wishes, sentiments and aspirations of people who elected me, I would like to state that my conscience is not permitting me to continue as your Cabinet Colleague. Hence, I hereby tender my resignation from the Cabinet Ministership and I sincerely thank you and the Congress High Command for the opportunity given to me to be a Minister in your Cabinet. I request that my resignation be accepted.”
