One Maoist, two couriers arrested

A member of CPI (Maoist) Maharashtra State Committee and three alleged Maoist couriers were apprehended by the police during a vehicle-checking operation in Charla mandal on Saturday.

In a statement, Bhadrachalam ASP Gajarao Bhupal said a police team comprising Charla police and the CRPF personnel nabbed four persons, including CPI (Maoist) Maharashtra State committee member K.Ashok Reddy alias Murali while moving in an autorickshaw between Devarapalli and Kudunuru villages in Charla mandal on Saturday.

The remaining persons were identified as Maoist couriers - Chintapalli Venkateshwarlu alias Srinu, a native of Chinturu, S.K. Bhikku Bhai alias Basha of Kurnool district and A.Venkataramana of Kadapa district, he said.

He said that Ashok Reddy was proceeding along with three Maoist couriers to meet some of the top leaders of the CPI (Maoist) with an objective to strengthen the outfit in the north Telangana area.
