One killed, four hurt in cracker blast

One person died and four, including two women, sustained severe injuries in a firecrackers blast at Medariveedhi of Machilipatnam in Krishna district on Tuesday. The police identified the deceased as Jogi Kiran (22).

Injured persons have been identified as J. Tulasi, D. Chanakya and P. Venkata Satyanarayana. Deputy Superintendent of Police K.V. Srinivasa Rao told The Hindu that the incident occurred while members of two families were manufacturing fire crackers in one of their houses. Kiran along with his friend Chanakya has been manufacturing crackers at his residence without obtaining any permission from the police.
