Olympic Bhavan at Kakinada planned

: Kakinada will witness construction of an Olympic Bhavan during the tenure of the new office-bearers elected for the East Godavari District Olympic Association, according to general secretary K. Padmanabham here on Wednesday.

He said efforts would be made to build the bhavan during the rule of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and promised that a special drive would be initiated to identify talented sportspersons from the rural areas. “We want to offer education, special coaching for the talented lot along with sponsorship to further their skills,” he added.

He said the association selected a 41-member body unanimously. P. Praveen Kumar, Convenor, Technical Committee, All India Carrom Federation acted as election observer.

“Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association vice-president Badeti Venkata Ramaiah and District Sports Development Officer P. Muralidhar acted as observers.”
