Chairman of the high-power committee on Remote and Interior Areas Development (RIAD) T. Purushotham Rao has said that mandal-level officials of the revenue and police departments should visit the villages to redress people's grievances at the grassroots.

Talking to media persons here on Friday, Mr. Rao suggested that the Tahasildhar, Mandal Parishad Development Officer and the SI should promptly attend to the grievances of the villagers with inter-departmental approach. The move would facilitate delivery of services at the doorsteps of the villagers, he remarked.

He further suggested that the mandal-level officials should stay in the villages twice a month to personally assess the problems of the people and ensure optimum utilisation of government schemes by genuine beneficiaries.

Awareness

Underlining the need for creating awareness on the concept of RIAD, he said he would soon review the implementation of the project with the officials concerned in the district.
