Seven months after the blast at GAIL gas pipeline that took place in this village, some of the victims and family members of those killed in the mishap are expressing their anger against the officials who did not address their problems till date. As many as 22 people were charred to death and 19 others suffered serious injuries on June 27 last in an explosion that took place opposite to Tatipaka ONGC Refinery at Nagaram in Mamidikuduru mandal of East Godavari. Deputy Chief Minister N. China Rajappa, Amalapuram MP P. Ravindrababu, ZP Chairman N. Rambabu and GAIL authorities faced the ire of the blast victims and their families when they came to Mamidikuduru to distribute ‘Sankranti Kanukalu.’ Rayudu Subbarao, who lost his son Suryanarayana (20) in the blast incident, was seen carrying the “GAIL Sankranti Kanukalu” bag at Boyi Bheemanna Centre complex. He told The Hindu that except the compensation of Rs.25 lakh from the Central and the State governments together, no other promise was implemented,. “All of them promised house site and employment to one of my family members with in three months he said.
