The State government is all set to announce the final list of Project Displaced Families (PDFs) of the Kovvada atomic power plant in couple of weeks.
The final declaration will have all the details of the properties of the displaced persons.
This is being considered as a crucial step to handover land permanently to the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), which has already deposited ₹384 crore with the district administration towards payment of compensation to the displaced persons.
Though the district administration could get the consent of the PDFs, the land acquisition process is yet to be completed.
The process can be completed only after issuing the final declaration that would mention the properties of each and every individual.
The families vacating the villages would be given ₹18 lakh per acre as compensation.
They would also get houses in the proposed model colony in Dharmavaram village of Etcherla mandal.
The government fixed ₹9 lakh per acre for encroachments.
Interestingly, the district administration had already paid ₹27 crore to 420 encroachers who occupied 619 acres of government land in Kovvada and surrounding villages of Ranasthalam mandal.
In spite of criticism from many sections, the officials completed the payment process for the encroachers to speed up the process.
“The encroachments had been identified in 2008-09 itself. So, we made payments in accordance with the previous records. The payment for the displaced families would be done after the final declaration,” said a senior official.
