Film actor N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) Jr. presented a cheque for Rs. 20 lakh to Chief Minister K. Rosaiah for flood relief operations here on Monday.

NTR Jr., who campaigned vigorously for the Telugu Desam in the recent general elections, met the Chief Minister in the ‘C’ block, along with his well-wishers, and K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, Advisor (Public Affairs) and M. Bhatti Vikramarka, Government Chief Whip.

Receiving the cheque, Mr Rosaiah appreciated NTR Jr. for his social commitment and for rising to the occasion.

Speaking to media later, NTR Jr. said his grandfather, the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, was an inspiration for him as he always came to the aid of the society in times of any natural calamity. He recalled that NTR undertook fund-raising when Rayalaseema faced a severe drought; and when Pakistan attacked India, he contributed liberally for police welfare before becoming Chief Minister.

NTR Jr. appealed to his fans all over the State to contribute their mite towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He said he wanted to visit the flood-hit areas but dropped the idea as it would disturb the administration which was fully engaged in relief operations.
