December 13, 2014 12:17 am | Updated 12:17 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Worried about the safety of your loved ones in the aftermath of the Delhi cab rape incident? Here’s a mobile app that tracks live a person or a vehicle on the move, and the innovative app can be shared by multiple users at the same time.

By installing “In-View” app, Delhi-type of incidents could be averted, said Namrata Tiwari, its co-developer, who joined hands with her nephew, Adheesh, a fourth year student of computer science to develop the app. “Suppose the girl had this application and shared it with others, someone would have tracked her and could have called police the moment they noticed that the taxi deviated from its path”, added Ms. Namrata, who is co-founder of Pursuit 9 Games, a company that develops Android and IOS apps.

‘In-View’ is available as a free app on Google Play Store and could be downloaded by Android users.

She said it could be used to let close relatives and friends of a person to track her/his movements while venturing out at night or in a cab.

Adheesh Kumar, its developer, pointed out that the GPS-based app tracks live the movement all along the route as it shares GPS coordinates of the trail in real-time with the contacts with whom it gets shared. It could be shared with more than 10 people.

Ms. Namrata said In-View shows the path a user was moving on and allows the user to share that path live with any number of friends. The friends and family can see the person’s trail on their devices (live on map). She said that the app allows users to share live trails of each other.

In-View can also be used for taking help from other friends to navigate small lanes and bylanes.

Ms Namrata said the app was initially developed one-and-half years ago for use within her family. But since then, it had been updated 30 times till a few days ago. Following the Delhi incident, she wanted to create awareness so that many people could download and use the app. A person using it could send a text message to others for installing the app.
