Trauma care centre staff at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences on Friday staged a protest blind-folded under the banner of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) in front of Prakasam Bhavan to press for their five-point charter of demands.

Leading the protest, AITUC State deputy general secretary R. Ravindranath said it was unfortunate that the trauma care staff had not received their pay for eight months even though the Union government had released funds for the purpose.

Staff union local president Ch. Bhagyam wanted RIMS Director B. Anjaiah to issue the mandatory utilisation certificate every six months in time and ensure early release of their salary arrears.

The contract employees’ other demands included social security benefits, regularisation of services of all contract employees and salary payment only through bank accounts.
