CITU functionaries pulled autorickshaws by tying ropes to them in a novel protest against the increase in prices of petrol and diesel and demonstrated before the Kurnool Collectorate on Monday.

Demanding rollback of the fuel price hike, CITU city president Ramudu and Kurnool Auto and Trolley Drivers’ Union general secretary Vijay Kumar flayed the Central government alleging that it increased diesel prices 19 times and petrol 16 times in the last two years.

Several educated unemployed were plying autorickshaws for a living in Kurnool and the frequent fuel price hike, exorbitant interest charged by finance companies, hiked insurance premium and rise in spare part prices were hitting them hard, they said.
