“Cast your vote as a right without taking a note (money)”, a novel voter awareness campaign was launched in Kadapa by Pattupogula Pavan Kumar, president of Blood2Live Organisation, an NGO promoting blood donation.
‘Vote judiciously’
“Don’t stall development by selling your vote, lured by money and liquor that might be offered by a contestant,” he says in a pamphlet.
A person casting vote by accepting a Rs. 500 note from a contestant to elect him for a five-year tenure (1,825 days), would be taking 27 paise a day, he said. Why should any voter take 27 paise a day to vote, when a beggar would not accept it, Mr. Pavan Kumar, former NSUI district president, asks.
Appeal to voters Cast vote considering a candidate’s honesty, accessibility and commitment towards development, without giving credence to his caste, Mr. Pavan Kumar appealed to voters.
CPI(M) leader S. Sudhakar and the party’s contestants for 40th ward Ramalakshmamma and 47th ward S. Siddhiramaiah and others released the pamphlets.
Pamphlets distributed Sporting a T-shirt carrying the slogan, Mr. Pavan Kumar is distributing the pamphlets among voters in Kadapa to bring awareness among them.
