Notorious chain snatcher nabbed in Tirupati

Sheik Allabakash (24), a notorious chain snatcher known for his sleight of hand, was arrested at Tirupati bus stand in the early hours of Monday.

According to the police, Allabakash, a resident of Kadiri in Anantapur district, regularly operated at bus stations snatching gold chains from half-sleepy passengers. A special team formed to counter the rise in chain snatching incidents, headed by Tirupati East DSP V. Narasimha Reddy, nabbed the culprit. Twenty three gold ornaments (600 grams) worth Rs.18 lakh were recovered from the culprit.

Meanwhile, the Tirupati Crime Police arrested Rayapati Venkaiah (30) and Anubolu Rambabu (40) in connection with the heist case pertaining to Siddhartha educational group chairman K. Ashok Raju. Police recovered Rs.30 lakh from the loot. Tirupati Urban Superintendent of Police S.V. Rajasekhar Babu lauded the efforts of the team in nabbing the culprits.
