Notification for Masula port today

An extent of 4,641 acres in six villages to be gathered in first phase

The Machilipatnam Area Development Authority (MADA) will on Monday issue the notification for pooling 4,641 acres for developing the Machilipatnam deep sea port. MADA Vice-Chairman Gandham Chandrudu on Sunday told The Hindu that the land would be accumulated as per the Machilipatnam Area Development Land Pooling Scheme (Formulation & Implementation) Rules, 2016. “The notification will also be made available at the Bandar Revenue Officer’s office and all the respective Panchayat offices. The owners of the land can submit their suggestions and objections to the MADA within fifteen days.” Of the land reserved for the port, 2,282 acres is patta land, 1,946 acres is government land while 413 acres would be notified as assigned land.

“The entire land required for the port is falling in the six villages in Machilipatnam mandal. The villages are Mekavanipalem, Gopuvanipalem, Manginapudi, Pothepalli, Tapasipudi, Karagraharam,” said Mr. Chandrudu. Of the private land to be gathered, above 700 acres is earmarked for the port in each of the two villages of Gopuvanipalem and Karagraharam.

Special teams

Mr. Chandrudu said that five teams each led by a Deputy Collector cadre officer would be deputed for the pooling exercise from Monday. In the first phase, the State government will focus on pooling the land required for the port.

The MADA will also publish a notification explaining the intention to gather the land as per the guidelines prescribed in the LPS rules 2016.

The land would be handed over to the Director of Ports, Kakinada.
