: The NDA government did not extend any significant special assistance to A.P. post bifurcation and treating it on a par with other States, said Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao.

The Agriculture Minister was responding to a query at a media conference, where he discussed the kharif crop plan here on Friday.

The Centre gave tax devolution share and other grants to A.P. as it had given to other States. But all these releases were being shown as special grant to the State, he said.

The TDP wished to have good relationship with the BJP. All that the State was trying to impress upon the Centre was that with a revenue deficit of Rs. 16,000 crore, the financial assistance given under special assistance was not enough, he said. “The government was asking for special status along with a package, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will reiterate it during his ensuing Delhi visit to meet the Prime Minister,” he said.
