March 28, 2014 12:41 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:02 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Senior BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday ruled out possibility of contesting Assembly elections or taking over the reins of State party leadership although the Seemandhra BJP unit wanted to pass a resolution in this regard.

At a press conference here, he declared that neither he nor anybody from his family would contest as long as he was in politics. “I don’t believe in dynasty politics,” he said.

On reports that former APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana was in touch with BJP leaders, he said: “I don’t know. He is not in touch with me.”

Former MLA Sambaiah, former MLC Dr. Kamineni Srinivas, film actor Shivaji, Samaikyandhra Students’ JAC convenor A. Kishore, weavers’ community leader K.N. Murthy, president of Foundation for Futuristic Cities Karuna Gopal and others joined the party in the presence of Mr. Naidu. Actor Suresh, who joined the party on Wednesday, was also present.
