Noisy scenes mar Kadapa ZP meet

September 18, 2014 11:10 pm | Updated 11:10 pm IST - KADAPA:

Noisy scenes marred the first general body meeting of Kadapa Zilla Parishad for one and half hour on Thursday, before order was restored and the agenda was taken up.

With Collector K.V. Ramana’s suggestion to invite YSRC MPs Y.S. Avinash Reddy, Peddireddy Mithun Reddy and TDP Rajya Sabha member C.M. Ramesh Naidu onto the dais, Simhadripuram ZPTC member P. Prabhakar Reddy maintained that there was no such protocol; rather the ZP Chairman could invite the MPs on to the dais if he felt so.

Following the remarks, YSRC MLA R. Prasada Reddy alleged discrimination towards him, adding that he was not allowed to speak in Proddatur municipality meeting. Mr. Anivash Reddy alleged that YSRC MLAs were being looked down upon in such meetings. Finally, the meeting continued with three chairs meant for the MPs on the dais remaining unoccupied.

When Mr. Prabhakar Reddy alleged irregularities in election of ZP standing committees, the Collector said Principal Secretary had asked him to inquire into the issue and submit a report. However, he spoke to ZP Chairman G. Ravi and Vice-Chairman I. Subba Reddy and advised them to settle the issue amicably.

Mr. Prabhakar Reddy said that he moved the High Court on the standing committee issue. Discussion on the issue was stopped after Congress MLC B. Chengalrayulu and his YSRC counterpart S. Raghurami Reddy observed that the issue could not be discussed in the meeting.
