March 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:03 am IST - Tirumala:

With high expectations that the footfall of pilgrims would be very high during the ensuing summer vacations, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has cancelled VIP darshan on Fridays. The restriction will be in force from April 15 to June 30. However, the VIPs who fall under the protocol category are exempted from the same.

Pushing a bitter pill down the throat of senior and special citizens, the management has also resolved to cancel their morning slot for darshan.Currently, the senior as well as special citizens have the privilege for darshan twice in a day. With the decision that would come into force from April 15, and last till the end of June, they will be allowed for darshan only once a day during the afternoon session.

Reviewing the arrangements with HODs of various departments at Annamaiah Bhavan on Tuesday, TTD executive officer Dr. D. Sambasiva Rao also instructed the potu (temple kitchen) officials to ensure a steadfast buffer stock of six lakh laddus during the entire period.

He also appealed to the staff to give their best and be dedicated in the service of the pilgrims who come from all nooks and corners of the country, pinning a lot of hope on the management.

Tirumala-based TTD JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju, additional FACAO Balaji, and chief engineer Chandrasekhar Reddy, were present.
