No safety for women in State: Roja

July 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - CHITTOOR:

YSRC State Mahila wing president and Nagari MLA R.K. Roja on Saturday alleged that law and order in the State was in a deplorable condition and atrocities against women were on the rise.

Speaking to The Hindu , Ms Roja said that there was no safety for women in the State. “In spite of growing physical assaults against women, the police just remaining mute spectators making justice a far cry to the victims,” she said.

She deplored that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had no guts to counter the YSRC politically, and hence inciting the TDP cadres to launch physical attacks against the opponents. “Farmers are in dire straits, but they are afraid of airing out their difficulties fearing oppression. When I tried to expose the call money scam of the TDP leaders and travails of farmers, I was cowed down and became a victim of false allegations.” Referring to the alleged attack on Nagari Municipal Chairperson K.J. Shanta Kumar last week by the TDP cadres, Ms Roja said that it was unfortunate that the women leaders had no security in the State.
