No respite from heat wave conditions

There is no respite from the heat wave conditions in different parts of the State as the India Meteorological Department has forecast that heat wave conditions are likely to continue in parts of East Godavari and Guntur districts of coastal Andhra and Anantapur and Kurnool of Rayalaseema regions on Tuesday. Several parts of the Rayalaseema and south coastal Andhra Pradesh are likely to record maximum temperatures of the order of 40-45 degree Celsius.

Model simulations

Severe heat wave conditions continue to prevail in 54 mandals and heat wave conditions in 143 other mandals.

Model simulations for the next 24 hours indicated that severe heat wave conditions are likely in 37 mandals and moderate conditions would prevail over the remaining State.

In all, 51 mandals are expected to witness severe heat wave conditions while the rest of the State would witness moderate conditions in the next 48 hours, according to the Met Department.

Kurnool recorded a high of 43.9 degree Celsius followed by Vijayawada (42.7), Tirupati (42.6), Nellore (42), and Anantapur (41) on Monday.

The department forecast thunderstorms with squall over Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and Guntur districts of coastal A.P. as also the four districts of Rayalaseema region.
