November 02, 2013 11:20 am | Updated 11:20 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A Division Bench of the AP High Court comprising Justice R. Subhash Reddy and Justice Shankar Narayana on Friday directed the officers of Education Department not to resort to fresh promotions in favour of teachers who have degrees from deemed universities. No person shall be reverted too.

The bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by several teachers who contended that no promotions can be offered to teachers based on the degree certificates issued by deemed universities.

Autonomy case

Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao directed the government to look into the representation made seeking creation of administrative autonomous units for the panchayats of the scheduled area at district level in the State in line with provisions of Panchayat (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, PESA while/before re-arranging the boundaries of AP. The judge was admitting a writ petition filed by L. Raja Rao, former MLA from Paderu (ST) constituency.

The judge granted three weeks time to the Chief Secretary to file counter affidavit.
