Reiterating her resolve to wage an uncompromising struggle to retain Bhadrachalam in Khammam district, Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdary said she will pursue the issue in the ensuing winter session of Parliament.

Ms Renuka undertook a “car yatra” to Bhadrachalam from Palair in the district on Saturday. Talking to mediapersons before embarking on the yatra, she said, “I will continue to oppose the proposal to split Bhadrachalam division from Khammam district. It is not negotiable and there is no compromise on the issue, come what may, she said.

Archaeological evidence

The historical Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple is one of the archaeological evidences that Bhadrachalam belongs to Telangana, she remarked.

“Bhadradri Ramudu’s residential address is Khammam district and there are deep-rooted religious sentiments attached to Bhadrachalam. If there is no Bhadrachalam what is the identity of Khammam district. We must have it with us.

It is not feasible to divide villages from the district,” she noted.

On the high command’s decision to bifurcate the State, she said, she would abide by the Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s decision.

No decision has been taken on Hyderabad so far, she said rejecting the “Rayala Telangana” proposal.
