Even as the Centre’s move to rename the domestic terminal at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad after Telugu Desam Party founder N.T. Rama Rao has raked up a controversy, National Mahajan Front president Sangati Manohar on Wednesday demanded that the government name one international airport in the country and one in the State after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Speaking after participating in the ‘Run For Equality’ here, he called for reservation for economically backward sections among the upper castes and quota for SC, ST, BC and minorities in the private sector, besides 5 per cent reservation for Muslim minorities. Mr. Manohar also demanded that the government introduce the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament and legislation to implement the SC/ ST Sub-Plan across the country.
Kadapa Mayor K. Suresh Babu flagged off the Run For Equality. Former MLC Shaik Hussain, DCC president Shaik Nazeer Basha, TDP leader S. Durgaprasada Rao, film director and producer V. Bhaskar Rao, National Mahajan Front Rayalaseema convenor M. Singaraiah and BC cell leader Ramakrishna, BSP leader K. Danam, SC leader J.V. Ramana, BC leader A. Mallikarjuna, Rayalaseema Rashtra Samithi president K. Venkatasubba Reddy were present. They also paid homage to Hudhud cylone victims on the occasion.
