The students of the SRR & CVR Government College along with Arjuna awardee and chess Grandmaster Koneru Humpy and Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas cleared the debris on the roadside of the highway in Krishnalanka as part of the Swachata Hi Seva campaign organised by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

The campaign was inaugurated by Ms. Humpy.

The Commissioner actively took part in the drive along with about 100 National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers led by V. Joshi, principal of the college, near the Krishnalanka fire station junction. The debris on the roadside was creating traffic issues.

Call to youth

Mr. Nivas called upon the youth of the city to take part in the campaign and make the city clean.

He appreciated the volunteers who took part in the drive and asked them to rope in more students from the college to take part in such campaigns.

Ms. Humpy also lauded the efforts of the students.

Chief Medical and Health Officer-in-charge Dr. Babu Srinivas and others were present.
