Nine in fray for Vizianagaram LS seat

Nine candidates are in the fray for Vizianagaram Parliamentary constituency and 77 for the nine Assembly segments in the district, after the withdrawal of nominations ended on Wednesday.

According to the list released by the Returning Officer on Wednesday evening, Vizianagaram and Cheepurupalli will witness a multi-corner contest with 11 candidates each remaining in the fray. Nellimarla segment has 10 candidates, S. Kota nine, Kurupam (ST), Parvathipuram (SC) and Gajapathinagaram eight each, and Salur (ST) and Bobbili have six candidates each for the coming polls.

The contestants for Vizianagaram Lok Sabha are Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju (TDP), Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi (Congress), Venkata Swetha Chalapathi Kumara Krishna Ranga Rao Ravu (YSRC), Prasada Rao Nanda (Pyramid party), Siyyadula Yella Rao and K. Harikishan (both Independents), Bonu Krishna (BSP), Thadivaka Ramesh Naidu (JSP) and Naru Simhadri Naidu (AAP).
