: A local court here on Thursday issued non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y.S. Chowdary for defaulting on loan repayment to a Mauritius-based bank. The 12th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Nampally Criminal Court Complex had issued the NBW following representation of the bank’s counsel that Mr. Chowdary failed to appear before the court despite summons issued earlier. The bank approached the court leading to registration of a case in January 2016 against Mr. Chowdary and two others for defaulting on repayment of loan to the tune of nearly Rs. 106 crore. “Summons were issued to the Union Minister to appear before the court on February 20, March 5, March 22, April 1, and today (April 7). But he didn’t turn up at the court,” the bank’s lawyer, Sanjeev Kumar said. He claimed that the Minister’s counsel represented to the court that Mr. Chowdary couldn’t come to the court on Thursday as he had ‘Cabinet Meeting’.
