The Nuzvid Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate (AJFCM) Court on Wednesday issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Sakshi Publications chairperson Y.S. Bharati Reddy and Editorial Director (ED) K. Ramachandra Murthy, for not responding to a defamation petition relating to the call money case.

In December 2015, the Vijayawada city police busted the call money racket. The police had set up separate cells for receiving complaints. The victims submitted more than 1000 petitions against the accused in the racket. In 2016, TDP Krishna district Telugu Rythu president Chalasani Anjaneyulu had filed a petition in the court alleging that Sakshi Telugu daily published articles alleging his involvement in the racket and accused him of harassing people. Mr. Anjaneyulu contended that the Telugu daily had made baseless allegations against him and damaged his reputation though he had not harassed any person. The court took up the case and asked the respondents to attend the court.

As they failed to attend, the court issued NBW against Mr. Murthy and Ms. Reddy.
