The ACB on Tuesday charged Nayudupeta Municipal Commissioner Avineni Prasad with amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and put the total worth of properties at over ₹10 crore.

Sleuths carried out simultaneous raids at six places spread over Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa districts.

ACB Nellore DSP Parameswara Reddy, along with his team, began the raids at 6 a.m. Incriminating documents were unearthed in the searches at Mr. Prasad’s main house located in Tirupati.

A five-storeyed apartment comprising 10 flats was found to be owned by Mr. Prasad jointly with his mother at the NGO Colony in Tirupati. Raids were also conducted at Mr. Prasad’s office in Nayudupeta and his daughter’s house in Nellore. Searches were also conducted at Mr. Prasad’s mother’s house in Srikalahasti and at the houses of two of his friends at Rajampeta in Kadapa district.

Mr. Prasad was found to have bought two flats in an apartment complex at Thimminayudupalem, and many plots at Thummulagunta, Akkaram and the NGO Colony in Tirupati limits.

The raids were conducted by the Nellore ACB sleuths following information about large-scale corruption in the municipality.
