‘National Youth Day’ marking the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, was celebrated in a grand manner in the temple city of Tirupati on Friday.

Chittoor District Collector P.S. Pradyumna hailed Swami Vivekananda as an iconic figure who inspired youngsters, artists etc. through his rousing speeches with emphasis on Indian culture and traditions.

Addressing at the National Youth Day celebrations organised by AP Youth Services Department and Nehru Yuva Kendra at Shilparamam, Mr. Pradyumna said that youngsters following the path laid by Swami Vivekananda would put them on the right direction. Chittoor MP N. Sivaprasad called upon the youth to follow the principles in this competitive world and work together for a better society.

Earlier in the day, Ramakrishna Mission – Tirupati celebrated the day by organising a massive rally from Vivekananda circle to the ashrama premises. Ramakrishna Mission Secretary Swami Anupamananda garlanded the statue of Swami Vivekananda near S.V. Medical College and took part in the procession with nearly 200 youngsters. A blood donation camp, with help from SVIMS Blood Bank, was held at the ashrama premises.

All India Radio Director Nagasuri Venugopal, Seven Hills College of Pharmacy Principal Dr. Niranjan Babu and others spoke.

Our special correspondent from Rajamahendrvaram adds: many institutions here including Ramakrishna Mission, Bharath Vikas Parishat and ABVP National Youth Day celebrations.

A rally was taken out by students of Swami Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellency in which Sub-Collector C.M. Saikanth Varma, Mayor P. Rajani Sesha Sai, R.K. Mutt president Swami Kapaleesananda, Swami Sukhatmananda and others participated.

The Sub-Collector gave away prizes to the students who participated in different competitions conducted on the occasion. VSS Krishna Kumar, Editor of evening daily Surya newspaper and students from different colleges were present.

At Hindu Samajam, Nyapati Subbarao, great grandson of freedom fighter Nyapati Subbarao Pantulu organised Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi.

Our staff reporter from Srikakulam adds: MP Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Collector K.Dhananjaya Reddy unveiled a Vivekananda statue in Government Degree College here. They congratulated Star Walkers’ Club member Gedela Indira Prasad for installing the statue in memory of his wife Lalita Devi.
