It was a visual treat for art lovers as a two-day All India Art exhibition got under way here on Friday. Noted painters from as many as 10 States displayed their paintings winning a wow from the connoisseurs .

The paintings among other styles, modern, semi-modern, abstract, still life and realistic were on display at the Gold Merchants’ Association hall here. Noted painter Macharaju inaugurated the exhibition organised by Supriya Kala Nilayam. Sandhya Rangula of the art school here said 17 cash prizes were given in general category and 20 consolation prizes from over 150 paintings shortlisted for display by Karnataka Lalitha Kala Academy Chairman C.S. Krishna Shetty and renowned painters S.K. Rajavelu and Osman Khan. A special paintings gallery has also been set up to highlight the skills of the budding painters of the Supriya Kala Nilayam. As many as 90 child painters walked away with prizes on the occasion for their special effort.
