Women should gain confidence and gear up for their security in the social, mental, financial and job spheres, A.P. Mahila Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari said here on Saturday.

Addressing a sadassu on women safety organised by the district police at the Kurnool Collectorate, Ms. Rajakumari said women such as Pratibha Patil, Meira Kumar, Sumitra Mahajan and Jayalalithaa proved to be a force to reckon with.

She called for censorship on Telugu serials, which she alleged, were making a strong impact on women folk by spreading malice and hatred within families.

The chairperson advised women to lead their lives boldly and asked the police to focus on preventing crimes.

She released a short film on ‘safe touch, unsafe touch’ developed by Kurnool Superintendent of Police Gopinath Jatti.

SP Gopinath Jatti gave a presentation on crime rates against women.

Women should alert the She Teams by dialling 7777877700 or 7777877722 when they faced trouble, the SP said.

Participants in karate and archery competitions held on March 8 were felicitated.

Ms. Nannapaneni Rajakumari released a short film made by Sakhi Centre.
