YSR Congress slams Telugu Desam for not offering any clarity on its election promises

YSR Congress Party MLAs on Tuesday slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for not offering any clarity on any of the poll promises he had made to people.

At the media point, MLAs R.K. Roja (Nagari), Y. Visweswara Reddy (Uravakonda), Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy (Nellore Rural) and Isaiah (Nandikotkur) said that Mr. Naidu’s reply on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address reminded them of yet another farce.

Ms. Roja said that Mr. Naidu’s speech reminded her of the political classes she had attended while she was in the TDP.

“He was repeatedly referring to the ‘previous government’ (Congress) that ruled Andhra Pradesh for 10 years and conveniently appeared to forget that it was the TDP that was in power for nine years before that, with himself being the Chief Minister,” she said.

‘Why Kotaiah Committee?’

She wondered why the Chief Minister had seen the need to constitute the Kotaiah Committee on loan waiver when he was already talking to bankers and the Government of India.

“And what about the belt shops that he said he would close down. Why didn’t he make any reference or give clarity on all these promises he made during his election campaign - be it farm loan waiver or doing away with belt shops. We respect late N.T. Rama Rao as much as the Telugu Desam does, but why didn’t Mr. Naidu make any mention of NTR’s welfare programmes?,” she asked, fuming.

‘Hopes of unemployed youth dashed’

Mr. Visweswara Reddy and Mr. Sridhar Reddy regretted that people’s hopes of getting jobs were already dashed, what with 263 jobs in some departments already gone.

Referring to the suicide attempt by one Tulsi Krishna of Srikakulam, they demand an explanation from Mr. Chandrababu Naidu.

Whether it was ‘Adarsha Rytu’ (model farmer) or officials in the agriculture extension sector, the Telugu Desam Party government was not giving people any hope, they rued.
