The security detail of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu, a Z+ protectee, went into a tizzy on Wednesday when his helicopter landed right behind the dais, from where he was to address a public meeting, instead of the designated helipad located some distance away from the SPM ground at Kagaznagar in Sirpur Assembly constituency.

As the incident constitutes a major violation of given guidelines, Adilabad District Election Officer and Collector Babu A. reported the matter both to the government and the Election Commission. Having arrived almost four hours behind schedule, Mr. Naidu’s chopper circled over the venue of the meeting and before anybody could realise what was happening, landed behind the dais. This took the police by surprise though they regained composure to stop scores of curious voters from rushing towards the chopper.

“An inquiry will be done as ignoring security guidelines is a major violation. Landing a helicopter at an unpermitted place is in violation of the guidelines in force during elections,” Mr. Babu asserted as he spoke to The Hindu in this regard.
