Calling upon the voters to cast their vote for development, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday promised to the people that the city would be developed as “clean and loveable” destination, besides generating employment to the local youth.

On the second day of his campaign for the Kakinada Municipal Corporation election, Mr. Naidu addressed the public in a road show at Jagannaikpur and interacted with members of women self-help groups.

Highlighting the need for poverty alleviation, he said efforts were on to improve the finances of the State and the living conditions of the poor.

“After the division of the State, we are left with no income. Still, we are not compromising on the implementation of the welfare schemes,” he said.

Expressing concern over the prevailing economic inequalities, he said there was an immediate need to improve the income of the poor.

Of Dera Baba and Jagan

Drawing a parallel between the controversial godman Dera Baba and Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr. Naidu alleged that while the godman was instigating people against the government, Mr. Jagan was provoking people to attack him.

“He is calling upon the people to kill me in public. He is not even maintaining decency. He has no respect for the Chief Minister’s chair. I am a people’s person and dedicated my life to serve you. Is it a punishable offence?” Mr. Naidu asked.

He advised the people not to waste their vote by casting it in favour of the YSRCP.

“We are unfortunate to have an opposition party like the YSRCP. It is obstructing the development of the State,” he said.

During his interaction with members of the women groups, Mr. Naidu claimed that the concept of SHG was his brainchild and the groups flourished only during his regime in the State.

“I have shown the world the power of women empowerment. This is the time for you to give back something to the TDP by casting your vote to the party’s candidates,” he said.
